Please Review My Website (are my prices too low)?

Discussion in 'Websites' started by MusicMeFree.com, Jun 11, 2009.

I recently added a "individual downloads" section to my website.

My main concern is that my prices are too low, so low that people may be suspicious, and may think my downloads are cheap, junk mp3's.

The truth of the matter is they are high quality brainwave sessions (relaxation music, meditation music, music for study etc.) which other companies usually sell for between $15 - $25.

I am only asking $5 - $10 on individual downloads, and $39.95 for mp3 bundles.

I am doing this because before I created my own products I could not afford brainwave mp3's other companies were selling. So I want to make my mp3's affordable for the average person, especially due to the economic situation.

But if the prices are too low then people may get suspicious. This is why I am asking for a review and opinions from others.

    Here is my website:

    http://musicmefree.com

Here is the individual downloads page:

    http://www.musicmefree.com/page_individual_downloads.php

    Thanks,
    Ed

    Nice niche you have there.

No, I don't think that you're prices are too low. What you need to do however, is to PROFESSIONALIZERATE your webpage.

What I am looking at right now is generic/cheap webpaging. And when people see that, they begin to feel suspicious. You need to do 2 key things:

1 - Change your layout. It is not very effective, and does you no favours.

2 - Change your wording. I know it is really, really tempting to just copy/paste and use jargon, but isn't that effective or interesting to the reader...

Other than that, a great start. Keep on going! I know you can do it!

Prices are fine, you just need to make the website look more professional. Consider getting a designer since the current layout makes it "look cheap" and doesn't seem trustworthy to buy from that site. A professional redesign will give your buyers more confidence in my opinion. Good luck!

Thank you for the feedback. I am only able to use the site builder within my cpanel to design my website, so I am limited to what width and style I can use.

But I have spent the day cleaning up my website a little by putting photo frames around the edges of the different tables. It looks better than it did before, I think.

I think your site looks great, you have a good amount of in bound links and that site should be at the point that it is making some $$. little over 1 year and 2 months old with a nice ranking of a 4. Keep up the good work
I see its only only two tier site but looks great

Thanks for the input. By the way where did you see a page rank of 4 for my website? The highest I have ever seen it was 3 (in the Google toolbar), and then recently Google updated their page rank thing, and then my website dropped back down to a 2 page rank which is where it is right now according to the Google toolbar page rank thing. Also, I had the domain for 1 year and 2 months, but did not start selling anything from my website until June 21, 2008.

Much better than before. Change the header at the top, it looks tacky, and not professional.

Good work on moving everything around as well, looks much better :p

I like the header because it implies freedom. I just added a meadow background which fit better with the header, and the relaxation theme. But did I make it even more tacky with the meadow background? Just experimenting.

Your website does have a feeling of being free, and the colors do match the feel of the site. One thing I did notice (on my browser which is FireFox) is that your testimonials box overlaps the box of content below it. Also...

You could use a tad bit more design work on the site, of course I understand your limitations and such, but there are alternatives out there that you could be working on to make this more appealing to others. But please believe me when I say that it is easy to get attached to your own sites and somewhat annoyed when others don't think as you do about the design.

I fall into that trap all the time. Heck, I think that most of us (okay, maybe it's just me) ask for reviews so that we can show off our sites in the hopes that others will tell us that they rock! :) Just to confirm our own thoughts of already knowing that the website rocks!

But we are here to give you an unbiased review, and that is what you asked for...

Seriously, keep up the good work though, and I don't think your prices are too low, in fact I appreciate that you would be willing to have lower prices in a world that is only looking for more, more, more...

    Thanks,

    Jeremie

    Hopesquest you mentioned:

"One thing I did notice (on my browser which is FireFox) is that your testimonials box overlaps the box of content below it."

I just checked in my Firefox browser and there is no overlapping. Maybe you looked at it when I was in the middle of editing and updating my site? Is it still overlapping? If so, do you use a Mac, or a PC? Which version of Firefox do you have.

Anyway thanks for the suggections. I am not offended and appreciate the reviews. My website has gone through a lot of changes. I found more features within my site builder, so I can make some addition changes. For example I recently found out I could make the site wider, which I did. It use to be stuck at a width way under 800px, but now it is 850px (my computer screen is about 900px).

    Thanks again.

Is this nitche working for you?
If it is, try to invest on a better design, purchase some monster template or something.

Did you write the music or you are a reseller?

    Best Regards

I'm not a reseller of the mp3's. I created every one of them using professional brainwave entrainment tools. The mp3's consist of binaural beats and isochronic tones. They are not regular music.

However, the music I added to the binaural beats and isochronic tones are music tracks I had to buy separately as royalty free, and they come with permission to use them commercially as long as they are not sold as is.

All my mp3's have either binaural beats or isochronic tones embedded with either music, or nature sounds.

So when it comes to using the royalty free music tracks in my mp3 files, in that sense I am a reseller of the music (I did not compose the music or create it etc.). But the actual finished product is mine. This is what I am selling, not the music by itself.

Nice collection of products with reasonable prices. But need a good template that is attractive since the site deals with sales.

I am a fan and user of binaural beats too. Anyway, your site needs just a little improvement particularly on the header and color theme.

With regards to pricing, I find them a bit expensive since you are targeting the mass demographics who doesn't have any idea about binaural beats. To make your binaural beats appealing, i suggest have it priced at $1 dollar for the cheapest beat. In this way, they will be tempted to try and spend only a buck for it.

Also, I have not seen a disclaimer or might have missed them in your site about stating that fact that these beats might cause seizure to some people suffering from epilepsy and some other mental illness.

Actually the disclaimer is clearly stated in the "Terms of Sale" which is a link on the order form.

As far as charging only $1 for the sessions, I think that is way too low since most of the sessions are an hour, and it has taken me some time to build them, and upload them to my website etc.

But maybe I can consider creating 1 long session, and then sell it for a dollar just so people can try it. Then again I am already giving away a 15 minute free sample.
