Please review my website and approach

I have what I believe to be a new approach to advertising on the web and beyond.

Please have a look and comments are warmly and thankfully received:

    www.fliply.com

Approach could develop on to, say, electronic billboards, TV, press, mobile as well as widget sites too.

There's free advertising there as well for the first 500

Thanks in advance, and good luck to all launching sites

Shall I add a free ad for you then?

Interesting. If you are launching to show it off....I am open to some free advertising. What are you asking in return ? :)

Just to create the buzz as it were. Asking for nothing in return at all.

If you go to: www.fliply.com/about.html and click the link from there. You can choose your own picture (600x400), URL and text for your link.

not entirely sure I understand it - it just flicks through links to websites?

Yep. That's it. The random element. Your ad might only be shown once a day or 100 times a day.

Development could lead to, say, electronic billboard showing a random advert.

I guess the strength of the image takes you to the page. So far, people have requested their home page URL but there's nothing stopping an unusual image being used.

Interesting. I think it's safe to say that it's an approach that I've not seen tried before.

i think its a great idea with a lot of potential

you could charge for advertising on it perhaps get a script done so people could host it on their sites and split the revenue wirththe siteowners

    is really a good idea

Thanks for the feedback. Was thinking about adding a widget to allow people to add the rotation on their website.

    Any views?

Good job and a great concept.

I think it's okay now but would be even better with more work. Fliply could be a unique alternative to StumbleUpon.

What work would you suggest be added to the site? Are you talking about potential presentation or features?

How could you see fliply being an alternative to stumble upon? Perhaps a user enters the website and then chooses what sort of ads they want to see (sports / tech / web / news) etc and then random sites delivered afterwords?

    Thanks

I would include an optional search, and a button that forces a new image to load, if you've had enough of the current one and don't feel like waiting for it to refresh. I would consider making a real application form with php instead of some crappy premade script. Good job with this though, I wouldn't be surprised if this became very successful.

I submitted my site, www.colorit.org. Perhaps you could review it (it's in the Reviews section) if you've got the time.

Thanks for the advice and thoughts. Would $10 as a one off payment be suitable? Too high? Too low?

    Thanks in advance

I would say it's a little high, I would lower the price slightly (maybe $5 or $7.50), and consider cheap prices for bulk listings.

P.S. Check your email, I sent you a pretty detailed suggestion.

I like the concept. However, I get caught up in trying to read the ads first. By the time that I decide to click, the ad has evaporated.

If it is random I might sit there waiting for an hour for it to come back. Nobody will do that.

Maybe you could add a back button, or at least slow things down a bit. If readers don't click it, your sponsors won't stick around long.

Thanks for all comments. Have made a couple of changes:

    1) updates every 10 seconds
    2) 'countdown' bar at bottom

Still deciding over 'refresh' button. Any thoughts / suggestions?

    Thanks in advance
