Please review my web site aimed at promoting events: wePromite.com

    Hi everyone,
I've recently launched a new web site and I think that it would be really useful to get some comments by the members of this forum:

    http://www.wepromite.com

I developed this web site to allow everyone to insert events in an easy way, and have them immediately published in the web (together with a map that shows the location and a link to save the event in Google Calendar).

I wanted to keep it simple, and let the users only fill in a short form.
So, for example, in order to insert the location of an event, the system does not require the user to fill in 4-5 fields, to indicate country, city, region, street, house number... There is only ONE text field and a button to trigger an online search that tries to standardize the location name. As a consequence, each event has its own map (which I consider a point of differentiation).

So, what do you think? Is it worth a try?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

    Best regards,
    rommix

I like the idea but the delivery needs some fine tuning. I like the template however the colors you used in your logo and then scattered throughout the site don't really work. Try to tone them down slightly and even change the template colors if you have to. One more point, the domain doesn't relate to what you're trying to do with the website. This isn't a huge problem but you'll have to make sure you do a good job with SEO and making sure you clearly portray the identity of the site. Good luck with it!

Actually, I don't have a problem with the colors. There's enough whitespace to offset this, for me, anyway. I like the site. I especially like the favicon you chose.

Granted, the domain name doesn't EXACTLY state the purpose of the site but it KIND of suggests it... which is a psychological trick of branding. For example, does the name Allegra (allergy control), Singulair (asthma control) and Tamiflu (flu med) kind of tell you what the drugs do? See where I'm going with that?

With more popularity, people will come to recognize it. Unless you can obtain a more keyword-targeted domain name, I wouldn't stress over this one.

Overall, I give this an 8 out of 10. Good job!

I agree with what has been said thus far about the domain name not matching the
content of the site but other than that I think the site looks good the colors and
the layout is nice and it's easy to read the text on the page.

    Thanks for these comments.

With regards to the domain name... well, everything depends on how much popular I can make this service. If it attracted a decent number of visitors, probably I could move it in another domain or in a 3rd level domain (e.g. events.wepromite.com). Would it be a good idea?

About the issue of the colors mentioned by dynamite196, I think that they are referring to the way I use the green and the purple to highlight dates and places. Maybe the section "Most recent events" in the homepage is too coloured and I could try to use darker colours or to avoid green and purple at all... I'll try to do some experiments.

The next enhancement that I'm going to implement is the addition of many boxes in the homepage, so to show the last events added, the upcoming ones... and I'll probably put a sort of News ticker based on RSS info coming form other web sites. Of course I'll have to move down the section with "carousel".

Now the most critical task for me is to make the web site visible and at the same time see if it is worth my efforts or if it is better that I delete everything and I start with a new experiment...

    Best regards,
    Rommix
