I recently hired a professional designer to come up with a new design for my Developer website. So here it is:

Please give me your feedback/suggestions/criticism. thanks. I also have a matching vBulletin skin but that's not shown yet. If you want to see a sample of it in action click this link.

The orange header is very bright. (Hard on the eyes) Like the layout very much though

Yeah I know, although my designer said it wouldn't look good anyway else, but the right side of the header will be replaced with a 728x90 or 468x90 ad so it will clear a little.

Well what can I do to improve it? I added a nice gradient plus the code snippets to make it look realistic.

It looks well except the header. Try another header.

If your gonna criticize my header you have to put what you don't like about it so I can improve.

    Here are my opinions:
    - better use logo than text on the header, ifyou still use text make it different with the right bottom text
    - If you still want orange color better use orange gradient color not solid orange color with blur text as background

The orange gradients used in the content seem a little subtler than the one used in the header; similarly the blue gradients in the content seem darker than the nav menu - personally I feel if those matched up it could look a little better.

I would also perhaps have a gap between the header and the navigation - particularly since it seems the header and footer are full/fluid width and the nav bar + content are fixed width - having a gap will help reinforce that. Thats just personal preference and i'm probably just rambling incoherantly here!

Either that, or remove the curved corners at the top of the nav and have it appear to be "tucked under" the header - that'd definitely work for me.

Aside from that however, this is a really great design - very clean, crisp and professional =)

The header seems a little bright. Maybe you can reduce the size/darken or add some msdn like rounded square patterns or something. make the code more prominent or header more interesting
