Please review my "Social network for bloggers"

Hi DP friends,

I just rebuild one old project and completely replaced the structure and functionality, so technically stating from zero.

Please suggest how I can improve design and functionality.

Hey there,

There are a few things I would change about this design to make it more appealing, but keep in mind this is a personal opinion and it doesn't reflect the views of the masses (or maybe of your target audience).

First of all, I think you should either drop or smooth the shadow in the website title. It looks sharpy and kinda gives it the impression that the image was saved as a bitmap or jpg directly from MSPaint (MSPaint does a shitty job at optimizing image quality).

I really appreciate the grey color palette, so that should definitely stay. It gives a classy feeling to the website, which I really dig.

Another flaw i find in this particular design is the format of the entries/posts/articles. They do look somewhat Twitter-ish and maybe that's what you aimed for, but as a visitor, I wasn't really impressed. I would suggest you add a "featured entries" section in the central area of the website, where the most visited/commented entries get a larger preview picture and a larger font size. The way it looks now it's kinda like reading an online newspaper at the jobs&hiring section.

THat's about it, I hope my honest opinion didn't offend you, but rather motivate you to keep doing what you're doing

 

Really appreciate your input, actually header will be replaced with logo, right now it is simple text, so I agree with this point.

About the posts on timeline, actually part of it comes from Twitter, others are just links shared (similar to social bookmarks) and the timeline shows only excerpt.

About featured topic, I think this is excellent suggestion and I am going to implement it now.
