    I am new to all this, but from what i have read from google. Adsense seaches your site for info and then display ads accordingly. Because you have little text adsense is displaying ads not related to sports. therefore sport fans visiting your site are not encourage to click on them. Your placement i think is great, and your site looks really good. good luck.
