mp3s and the recording industry are topics I'd stay away from. How can one be sure that all the mp3s linked to are public domain? Potential for serious copyright problems.
You can't, because you are linking to something someone else uploaded somewhere else and this can even changed. But then it's linked to somewhere else AND NOT on your own domain. Or didn't I get that right.
You are still PROMOTING it which is the terminology used in the policies. Specifically: Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity or infringes on the legal rights of others
I see what you mean, that can be construed as dowloading mp3s which somebody else claims copyright about. Then he just needs a good disclaimer or not?
I don't know if a disclaimer would be enough to cut it. Thus my reasons for staying clear of it. Disclaimer or not you could still be considered to be facilitating the infringement of copyright. Just like knowingly aiding and abetting can be an actionable offense. The thing you ultimately have to ask yourself is: "is it worth it" Since he's getting crap results, I'd say my answer would be an emphatic NO.
I see you mean keeping save distance may prevent even the possibility of dispute. On the other hand many sites have the problem that copyrighted materials or links to this are uploaded there. They usually will tell users not to do that and will remove it, if asked to do so. I should add that I usually will respect copyrights or practice fair use (copying ten pages from a handbook for study purposes). The DVDs I own are almost all orginal purchased DVDs, except for the ones that were free anyway (homemade by sombody else, who copied it for me). Were I have a problem is, when Copyright proclaiming corporations do equalize copying a movie to theft. Because it simply is not the same. Theft is depriving a third party from the use of an item. Furthermore I don't like it when companies try to dictate to me via the backdoor non-negotiate terms like not allowing me to show a DVD to more then 10 people. Admittedly the copyright question is a subject on its own. You were more concerned on about google adsense is judging this, right?
Don't quote me on this, but I think at one point there was debate on whether or not a backup copy (in the days of VHS) could be made of a bought title (not for resale but only for personal use) and I THOUGHT it came down that that was acceptable. Ditto the time-shifting argument for recording broadcast to VHS. I sure think it should be allowed! As far as showing it to more than 10 people, I doubt the chances of them actually pursuing something like that (say you have a viewing party for some friends) are about nil. The verbiage is probably in there so that they have it there in case they need to go after someone profiting from it or going well beyond that. With the matter of adsense, though, it's a whole 'nother ball of wax and I err on the safe side when it comes to whether or not something is allowable. Movie and mp3 downloads just spells trouble in my book. You can't guarantee the end results, and Google doesn't really care. If someone files a complaint, they are going to protect their own interests first which will be in the form of disassociating themselves from the site whether by banning the site from adsense, or the account owner himself. Another example, many sites with articles allow for their PERSONAL use, but do not allow commercial use of the article. As soon as you slap adsense into a copied version of the article, it could become "commercial" in their eyes. Not really worth the risk to me. Especially since I prefer to write my own which are usually much better in the first place
Then how come I have seen tons of youtube downloader/recorder websites with running adsense without any problems, or is this a different matter?
Perhaps they haven't been reviewed by the Adsense Team yet. I don't now about anyone else but when I see something in TOS/Policies about thou shalt not be doing anything that smacks of copyright infringement, I stay away from areas that are hot-button copyright infringement issues and the Recording Industry is one of those.
why OP give so many backlinks with different keyword in the post?? anyway, maybe instead downloadable, you can change into streaming more safe ...
