Hello there? There is nothing wrong with the keyword "Ottawa Web Design" you have made a typical; newbie mistake and are ranking for Mediavanta? I am astounded at the huge numbers of people on the Forum who do not have a clue about SEO and Build sites online and- build a site without doing any research whatsoever and Then realize you have to get traffic after it is built? So here for you are: The Seven deadly Sins of SEO 1) Do not build a site online until you have done the research and know what you are up against. 2) Do your keyword research FIRST- where? and how? to place your keywords for the optimum onpage SEO 3) PUT YOUR KEYWORD IN YOUR DOMAIN NAME (Never ever done? And- the biggest newbie mistake) i.e. http://OttawaWebDesign.com 4) Put your Keyword in your first paragraph (don't spam it, make it flow as a natural part of your sentence- don't just tack it onto the end of a sentence every time?) 5) Put your keywords throughout your content at 2% - 2.5% density 2 keywords per every 100 words (less is more) One keyword in your last line. (again do not spam keywords. Too many keywords will get you penalized by Google.) 6) Make sure your source code has the title Tag filled with your keyword in it. Make sure your H1 tag has your main Keyword in it, Make sure your H2 tag has a secondary keyword in it and make sure your content and Meta tags have your keyword in it and related LSI supporting words for that niche. 7) Offpage SEO Make sure you find how and where to get high ranked back links to your site and- make sure they are not "no Follow" Find out how to use "Anchor text" strategically. Do not send all the same anchor text links to your home page. Use different keywords for every page and link to your inner pages as well. Now when you see people asking for SEO help and asking to "view their sites to see what is wrong? All great and from my experience correct points. The only thing I would add is using blogs. Today blogging is a must for any SEO campaign. In the perfect world I would suggest on-site and off-site blogs as they serve two different purposes. On-site will provide a source of fresh, new content, and a new optimized page with every post. Off-site is a great way to keep relevant, quality links coming. Not to mention a great way to communicate with your clients about promotions, new products or services etc.
