    I personally like blended ads, like your right column side ads can be blended with the light green background. You can also remove the border. To improve your conversion rate, you may use image ads instead.

    I would agree, that ad is a bit stark, using almost the default color template. Blended ad would be better - maybe a 250x250 square? not sure if you have that much room.
