I don't know about the previous version, but this one seems cool to me. It's like a new paper with clear layout. However, if you set the color of columns to be brighter than the background, you may not need the black border. And if the center columns has the most brightest color, they will attract reader's focus. Just some of my feelings, I don't know if that's better.

 

Simple, cool... good luck with anything.

For those saying the old one is better, do you have any particular reasons why? Keep in mind the old blog only has 2 columns and thus a lot of wasted space (at 1024x768) on the sides, which is why I wanted to clean up the design and make a 3 column one.

 

Looks really good - I would just re-think the color scheme and move that comment policy to the bottom of that sidebar. Move your rss bottom to the top or better yet put it in your header.

 

Love the simplicity!

Only thing I would change would be the image behind the main page title and sub title; give it a little more pop.

 

I have to go with Smithers on this one. Was there a reason why you changed other than the fact that it's a default blogger template? I think the previous template is more user-friendly.

 

I wanted to have more space and a 3 column layout. The old template doesn't allow much room for all the categories, archive, mybloglog widget, etc.

Remember that what I linked to above (for the old site) is an example blog, not the actual site so there isn't much content.

 

Perhaps I know what they mean ! The old one looks a bit more elegant and attractive (personal choice and I always prefer dark colors ! ) ... new one is clean and simple, but at the same time a little flat may be. There is no particular point of interest that would draw the attention. May be you could redesign your top banner as well. Just my personal feedback. Good luck !

 

Thanks for the comment. It is meant to be an informative blog, and I don't think flashiness is really needed. I may consider getting a new banner, since that was something I did real quickly at the end.
