    Hi folks,

I've just finished the latest release of a new plugin I've been working on called WP Backitup. You can take a look here:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-backitup/

It creates a backup of your Wordpress site, settings, content, widgets...the whole lot!

Awesome job man. It mustn't have been easy job. The plugin looks quite useful and you have explained all the nuances about it thoroughly. Have already got few 5 star and plenty are bound to come.

Thanks for taking a look Neil, the problem I seem to be facing is that folks don't understand or realise that they can purchase the restoration addon; were you aware of this yourself having looked at the plugin?

The description of your plugin is a bit deceptive. Make it clear that the free version is backup only. There is NO restore. To restore you must buy a paid version. The way you are currently positioned, it's almost like you're trying to hoodwink prospective customers...when we think of a "backup" program, it's implied there is a corresponding restore. With your program there is not. Given the way you sorta kinda don't tell the truth up front, I uninstalled your plugin immediately. Zero interest due to your advertising tactics -- you may have a great plugin, but your marketing tactics are questionable....so I won't support you. Period.

A good start, but as mentioned there are a few things you should work on, I will list my opinions below.
    • Be more clear about the version of WP Backitup you are talking about. For example, in your FAQs you talk about automated backups. You mention that you can 'buy WP Backitup'. Wait? I thought it was free? You should be clear whether you are talking about your free version an/or your Pro version.
    • On your website you should also be more clear that a free version exists. This will give potential buyers a chance to test the plugin before just turning their heads. I am aware that there is the single download button on the homepage but that is the only real mentioning I see of the free version.
They are the only issues I see regarding your Free vs Pro version issue. Apart from that, keep it up, read the reviews you are given and don't get greedy. Grant.

agree with the above comments. clearly there should be distinction between free and pro version and features both supports.
