I'd appreciate comments on content, layout, name, etc...

I've only just (literally within the last few hours) made the blog so please don't be too critical :)

    Nice start Joanne.

Question/observation: this is no big deal, just a comment really. I would probably have had the log match your website url i.e. luv & music and not love and music.

You could always have a section to allow other to submit their lyrics

In future a forum to discuss music writing, promoting music and all other things music would be a nice feature. I've found you need a bit of traffic to begin with for this.

I only named the url "luv" because love was already taken.

And that's not a bad idea actually. Thanks for the comments :)

The blog has a nice look and feel to it, you should focus on optimizing the site for the search engine
and building some quality backlinks. I noticed that you do not have a title on the page, you should
have a unique title for every page.

Thudmonkey: I took your advice and started a "Song Gallery" page for submitting lyrics. I'm also thinking about the forum idea in the future when the blog kicks off and starts getting noticed. And i'm also going to purchase a new domain name :)

Kingofsanda: I did have titles, but when they appear on your page the font style looks really tacky- that's why i used the navigation bar to add a title banner instead :)

Thanks for your comments guys. More would be appreciated :)

Well, they are a couple of the most important things in this world.
    Nice blog Joanne.

Here are a couple of ideas you may want to think about in terms of SEO (if you want Google to send more people over to your blog) and usability (being user friendly):
It's harder for people to read white text on color background - you may want to invert the colors on the sidebar or use a darker color to increase contrast.

When you use the sign & in a title WordPress deletes it from the permanent link - you could write "and" and have WP separate the words appropriately that's better for both Google and your visitors.

The green color in your headline is very light - a darker color would be easier to read.

the top left of your blog is a bit empty - this is the golden triangle people click on the most - I'd use that invaluable virtual real estate for anything you want to emphasize.

I hope this helps you any...
best of luck and online success

I like the template, and the layout. I'd put more descriptive text around the videos. The last time I was around the music business people were concerned about their works being lifted so I hope you have protections on your work beyond posting on the website. The blog post title of the most recent entry is too long, and I would make that short and continue it in the text of the post itself, in header size font so to balance the look. A forum might not be what you're after but a guestbook might be good for this site. Bring some insights about your influences and artists that you enjoy and are inspired by, linking to their sites as well so that when they are looked up you could be included in some of the search results. Get an addthis button for social bookmarking. And the best of luck to you.
