I'm looking for reviews, and advice/tips(if possible) for my new webmaster forum, Webmaster Gateway. I am just officially launching my forum the second I push the send button on this post, and I'm looking to have a long venture running this forum. This is my first forum, that I've owned(other then a few that never made it past 50 members). So any tips you have for the growth of my forum will be greatly appreciated. However, thats not why I made this thread. I am simply just looking for reviews, and hoping to receive some constructive criticism on how I can improve my website. Webmaster Forums
The links are follow right now. I never really understood the benefit of switching to nofollow links.
Please tell me what makes this forum unique? this is a BIG make or break question.. Most web forums has a Person / Product involved with it drawing the fan base. Brown is an interesting color, not sure if its a good long term idea.. Updated your Favicon, screams scrape me
Alright. What makes my forum unique is ME, and my drive to succeed. I have a creative mind, and hard work ethics. I've also done some PHP programming in the past, and I am more then capable in making some addons to the forum. The design is temporary until I save up a couple paychecks from my full-time job to invest in a design. The favicon will be changed soon. I'll whip something up in photoshop.
Ok, because to win the "webmaster" game is TIME> Honestly I would use some of your skills to make something people need and link it back to the forums for support. Are you involved in any programs? Can you make a support area of that product / program.. Freelance your talents or trade for a forum design.. giving them a link back.
Thanks for the tip, I'll give freelancing a shot with the possibility of getting a link back. I'm not involved in any programs right now(like working for clients), but I can code a support area no problem. Anyways, I'm going to contact some of my clients from the past that I have on my old messenger account, and see if they have any freelance jobs for me.
The only traffic I am getting is from free advertising(self promotion). I'll be working on this today by submitting to many web directories, traffic exchanges, twitter, facebook, posting on other forums, signature links...etc I'll be joining twitter shortly. Does anyone know if there is a SMF mod that will automatically make new twitter posts when a thread is created in a certain category of the forum? (news & updates)
I just signed up and posted, I'm the other active member besides you Cheesee. I have it bookmarked and I'll do my best to respond to threads I know something about.
