Hi, I started this blog about a week ago. You can scroll to the very bottom to look at the Sitemeter stats. Getting around 250 people a day since my article got quoted on a big site, start64.com, also some digg traffic, and now picking up more and more google traffic. Feedburner says I have 5 subscribers already. Ads say 14,000 impressions and 5 clicks - $1.93. Please review my template / theme / ad placement / seo / and anything else. Don't be afraid to criticize as long as you say why. Please tell me what needs to be changed, removed, etc. Thanks The site is www.wordplop.com
ok here is my feedback. Initially the top 1/2 half is very boring and the theme is plain. As mentioned previously you definitely need a logo and/or header image, which would instantly help. BUT the bottom half is VERY colorful, creative, has interesting images, etc. I would suggest putting an image in the top post or something with color to grab the attention of the reader. Content looks strong.
By the top 1/2 do you mean the dark header or the top of the latest post? If it's the post, I guess I should start using some stock images in each post? Logo is in the works. Thanks for the thorough feedback. Also, how is my SEO? How is my writing style in regards to it? Do I write using good keywords?
Do you think it's my ad placement? Or the ads are halfway irrelevant? Or maybe.. I did read that some people were reporting that not all clicks were being counted with bidvertiser. Edit: it's only CPC, it doesn't pay for impressions, maybe that's why?
You need a nice logo in the top left corner to make it look really slick - you also need to have less on the homepage, its slow to load because there are so many pages - just display less stories.
Yes I did I think it's slow because the site has to load digg, the ads, entrecard, etc, plus my host is slow (free host for now). 10 posts is what most blogs display. Once I earn some money from affiliate sign ups and ads, I'll get paid hosting.
site looks great but the logo should be changed...it doesnt look professional ....it doesnt go with the blogs theme......make it more eye catching..
Thanks everyone a7medfx: now that I look at it more, I see that it doesn't match the theme much. But I think I'll use this one for now. I'm actually planning on making my own theme for the site, but I need to do some research on that first because I've never made a wordpress theme from scratch (though I've heavily modified them).
I think you could do with "seperating" the main content and the rigth hand side content a bit more, maybe a slightly darker line between them slightly, there just seems loads to look at to begin with.
