Hey guys, My site is designed to aggregate sports news from all over the internet and group it all into nice and tidy pages so that you can browse national news, local news and blogs about individual cities or teams on one page. The site is SportsNode.com. An example of a team page can be found here: Dodgers I currently have New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia up and will begin work on Chicago shortly. Please let me know what you think. Is it easy to navigate? Are things placed where you think they should be? Does it respond reasonably well to your clicks? The whole thing was written by scratch by myself and a partner using mod_perl on top of a MySQL database. Thanks in advance for your input.
The design is kind of plain, for the table you placed around your main text, I would remove that.. Also the site needs more colors.. maybe a background color and white content area?
Agree with 8everything, the Site is lifeless , put some color, give it some life, the current one is too simple and plain
Your site is excellent but there is one thing which may be yet better, it would be nice to create a version of the navigation without both CSS and Javascript for the visitors who are using script filtering proxies and strange browser software.
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. With regards to the layout/design, I was going for a very simple, straightforward scheme. I'd like for the site to be the Anti-ESPN.com where every square pixel is filled with something. I was hoping to achieve something between a mainstream news site (ESPN, SI.com) and Digg.com to be honest with you. Kind of like bringing Web2.0 to the sports set. I am intending to add a bunch of new functionality in the future to better fulfill that goal. Having said all that, I will be looking into redoing some of the layout sometime in the future. Artisan, thank you for the compliment. Right now the top half of the navigation does work without JS enabled and I'm sure I can make the bottom half work as well. No CSS... well... that might be rough. I'll have to talk to my partner who is the CSS/Layout wiz. Added rep to all commenters. Thanks again.
Kinda annoyed with the map, if i were a user i would exit from the first page. You can add some ads to it, so if the users don't find what they are looking for they will be able to find on those ads.
Looks good. Maybe remove the outline around the first paragraph. Other than that, looks professional and interactive.
would be better if had more cities i'm in the nashville area and a lot of good sports comes out of here the sec and pro sports in nashville
try removing borders from around adsense ads make them blend in more just use white for the border color
