    Hello,

This has gone live today. I've put a lot of work into it. I really like the design myself but would like other's opinions as well. One person said it should look more "fun and professional" but I'm not sure how to do that.

    Well, any feedback is appreciated.

    Thanks!

Looks nice, informational, professional, maybe add some frames, and a layout, it would look more profession without the links, but yet they are profitable, looks nice though! i like it :D

It's a nice concept for sure. This kind of thing can really take off - anything that stimulates argument and debate has a good chance of working.

The layout needs addressing though. And you could probably be cleverer with where you embed the adverts. However time will tell on that - be sure to set up ad channels so you can track various placements over time and see what does and doesn't work.

Great concept and good matching domain name...

This part is kind of harsh though:
    Haha

    Hi,

Thank you for all the great comments, it's very encouraging.

ecentricNick - Thanks for the tip on the channels, I had actually remembered to do that. What do you mean the layout needs addressing? How can I improve it?

tarponkeith - Think I should change that?

    Thanks!

Ok, what I see you're trying to do is show thoughts from two different sides of the fence side by side - so those on the political left are on the left, and those on the political right on the right (I assume, anyway - I'm English so not that familiar with which party is which in the states!)

But, because you have a plain white background, and no means of dividing the header from the left hand content and the right hand content, it kind of all merges into one and it's not immediately apparent what you are doing.

Imagine how this forum page would look if there were no coloured boxes, no lines, and no relief between the posts? It would just look jumbled and run together - that's how your content appears to me.

That said, I *do* like the concept. Just tart up the layout a bit or engage someone from DP to do it for you and I think you'll have a winner.

    ecentricNick,

Oh, I see. Yes, that makes sense. I'll see what I can do about that.

    Thanks!

That definitely looks a little better IMHO. The lines help.

You know how on all your other pages, besides the home page, the content itself has a border on the left and right, in other words the content is more centralised? I'd try that on the home page too - and maybe move that right hand side ad block to the bottom of the page.

In other words, try making your home page the same layout as your other pages cos they look better.

wow we posted at the same time...

I kind of disagree, I like the lines on the main page now... looks good, and the adsense on the right doesn't detract that much from the overall layout

Had a quick play in photoshop and would suggest something like the attached (never tried this attach feature so hope it works)...

I put a semi-transparent image of the whitehouse behind your header.

Then put a faint blue box around the stuff on the left, and a faint red one around that on the right.

I'm not saying it's any better but might give you some ideas?

ohhhh... i like... neat idea with the blue/red party colors...

you know what would make a cool header? like a donkey and elephant fighting, or charging each other from different sides or something...

Ok, to quote from some cartoon from my youth, Yowzers! That's really cool!

Time to play around some more.

Thanks for taking the time to do that. You have a good eye. I'm not real swift when it comes to CSS but I'll see what I can do.

    Thanks!

The text at the top overlaps with the logo for me (I'm using Opera).

    ecentricNick,

I tried to get the transparent header but could not but I believe what I have now works well.

I added the colors but decided to keep the right column for informational purposes including the ad box.

    What do you think?

    Thanks!
