The colors and header look alright, aside from the same layout. Everything else is good to go. You might want to re-design a bit, if your looking for something different then others.
The logo is eye catching, and modern looking. I would put a matching purple banner across the bottom too in order to tie it all in.
Update: I just made a completely new layout. More unique and professional i think.... Suggestions or comments?
I love the entire layout! The only suggestion I would make would be to hire a designer to revamp your header. I like the header, but someone needs to make it a little smother around the edges

How come my site isnt taking off? I mean, I get about one submission a day. Its been like this for months. I figured it would pick up eventually, but it hasnt. What is the best way to market and promote a directory?

Ok, so over the summer and the past months, I have completely redone my entire site, www.searchpurple.com. Some fresh new reviews would be great before I start promoting it like crazy. Things like why you would NOT submit to this directory would be helpful, because it seems like I am not gettin many submissions and I dont know why...
The directory is Yahoo type. So I would recommend to equal the width of two directories. The logo could be done in a smaller font and the “Search Purple†button could be placed to the right of the input field. Overall is clean and easy. Try playing with the color of the “Purple†brighter olive should be good. A light gradient effect should even improve the feeling.
I got a new logo and changed some other small things around. How does it look? Any more constructive criticism, please share. Thanks
