Hi there, I just started a site in Canada called www.sellmyride.ca
It's a free vehicle marketplace like auto trader, etc... I added a forum and a video/pic/media script...

Could you give me your thoughts on:

1:) How the site works/looks and any suggestions on improvement?
2.) How I can best monetize the site without disrupting the user experience so to speak

I'll take anything, including really blunt comments as I believe this is the only way to improve my site for people...

Thanks a lot for your time! I appreciate it.

I think you should make the content page a bit bigger
also, I think the best way to monetize it is to take 1%-2%( more or less depending on the price) from the total sale

Thanks for the replies. I'll work on the design a little, I also think it needs a little more touches here and there. Those pictures of the cars are there for my ad rotator. They will be pictures of people's ads once it gets a little more popular. (example: www.sellmyride.ca/Ottawa) so I can't really remove those. I could however change the picture?

    Thanks again!

I think it will be better to show some interesting or nice deal on the front page to attract more visitor to take action in the site.you have nice design.

put search box in teh front page may help as well.

I think the design is sleek looking and appealing but the home page is weak. I would place the last 10 or 15 most recent ads on there and keep it on a rolling basis so the page is always fresh and current.

Right now, there is no incentive for people to look at anything. Links of recent ads would get the users moving.

Also, when I clicked on the toronto listings, there was a box to sign in but I did not readily find info as to how to register or why I have to sign in - maybe this could be made a little more user friendly.

    just my thoughts :)
