I recently started a new project and would love some feedback on it. http://letterstobreathe.com It is a site for visitors to read and submit unsent letters, that is a letter you write to some one that does not get sent- for whatever reason- they may not be alive anymore, or you are unable to tell them how you REALLY feel because of possible repercussions. It is all anonymous so you are able to say whatever you want and not have to hold back or be polite- great way to vent! So far I have had great results, been up for about 2 weeks and I have been getting at least one submission a day. My bounce rate is very low, 2.4% for the whole 2 weeks, so people seem to like it. My biggest problem is choosing what category is is- for when I submit to directories and other sites. It just does not seem to fit into any of the major ones. What do you all think is a good one to pick when I HAVE to choose one? I only have 2 real 'competitors' both have published a book that is sold in stores and on amazon. one is ourunsentletters.com/blog/ and unwrittenlettersproject.com - so I am hoping to at some point maybe publish a book as well. There is room for everyone right? thanks in advance for ANY feedback- be it on design, content (not of the letters because I didn't write them- maybe on the submit or about type pages), any ideas on how to best advertise the site, or ways to monetize it, any design feedback, etc. It is really appreciated!!
First of all, I must say that this is a very interesting website. I have never seen a website like that before. Secondly, I would suggest that you fix the post "How You Make Me Feel" - or whatever it's called. It's not showing up correctly, all I see is code.
thanks for pointing that out! The top featured post was not set up right- so it showed all the code- fixing it now
that is not only an awseome website and a great idea, but I love the layout and the attractiveness you have going! I did a search on dmoz to try and help you figure out a category and when I searched for "venting" I came across this one: Society: Issues: Chats and Forums: Venting or Ranting Hope that helps ya, and best of luck with the wonderful site!
thanks! That does help a lot!! the theme was a combination of three templates heavily modified graphically, and I took parts of the three I loved and combined them LOL I am so picky, I have never been able to use a theme as-is I am having a great time with it- since all the content is user submitted I am free to spend my time on promotion and learning about more promotion
Adding Letter to GOD, man. Then Letter to wife (?). I think woman not special with wife. and one, Letter to Mr PRESIDENT or letter to minister or something else. You can add quote or wise wisdom ... that's make people loves it. It will be influence to reader and enjoying your blog for a long time. Agree? Anyway very very good idea. I want to send letter too
