Hi I have recently re vamped by kids clothing site. My sales have dropped by 50% over the past 6 months. My hits are down 30% but me orders 50%. The new site was launched one month ago but sales are still low. What do you think of the site eg layout, navigation, branding etc? www.stardustkids.co.uk
I gather that you are a brick and mortar with and online presence, is that correct? Which would lead to my recession oriented question - are your sales down at the actual store, online, or through wholesale? Your website is fine, one of better ones I have seen in the while here.
Hi Thank you for your replying. Oddly our bricks and motor business is up. It is our online business that nose dived in September.
Where it says "Click here for our full range" on the items in the center of the main index, "Click here for our full range" is not clickable so where the text above the box says "Unique Kids Gifts" then there is a pic (that is clickable) then a price then "Click here for our full range" ... only bit that can be clicked is the pic but that goes to just that one item ... only way to see the range is find it on the menu on the right. BUT "Unique Kids Gifts" is not listed there. If we clicked that item and go to ROBOT BUZZER there is no easy place to click that i can find to locate the rest of similar items. So if i wanted to view "Kids Pockey Money Toys" as shown just above the CHATTERING TEETH how would i find them? I looked for a good 10 mins and am unable to locate the Kids Pockey Money Toys section although may have missed it also would it not be better as pocket money... i doubt many search for pockey money toys. I tried clicking on your forum link near the bottom of the page but that did not go to a forum. If i can not find them i sure can not buy them, and in the time i spent trying to find most would have left and gone to another site. So navigation needs to be looked at again i think
I don't like this much red color also links in top of site like Site map, Home... also 0 Items in Basket.. should have different color that they be easier visible for visitors, and just one more thing maybe skull in header is not maybe for kids store site.
The main thing that killed my eyes was the red background in the back, maybe a little smoother like an off color will do, maybe a pinkish/red or something? I like everything else so far!
Thanks for all your replies. I will look into improving navigation. The site has always been red. However, when our orders dropped in September we actually changed the red to a grey and then to a light yellow to see if the red puts people off. However, there were no changes in order levels. The brand is edgy and alternative so we decided to instate the red.
I will rate your website as between medium and professional . But please, please change the red background color. Too annoying! Just 10 seconds on your website make my eye blind
How does the sales level compare to the second site in your sig file. (If your sig file links actually worked as at the moment they end with \ / ) I see both sell more or less the same products ... has the other site's sales dropped off to the same level ?
its a fairly good ecommerce site, i didnt like the background color though, it was too red. Also, your color selector on some of the products overlaps the containing box, you should look into putting the attributes for the colors and the containing div / table in the correct div so you don't over lap. otherwise, great!
got to say the red bothers me too much as a new customer, but if I was an existing customer, I might still visit. Have you tried a different shade of red?
first thing I mentioned is too bright red background. The couldn't concentrate on your content. Maybe you should check this thing?!
It's a nice site overall. However I think the red background is a bit hard on the eye. Just my 2 cents!
Okay, point taken - I need to change the tone of red! I agree with the colour option grid. I haven't been able to fix this but have not really persisted so will try and sort it out. Not sure why the site couldn't be accessed. I have not had any report of the site being offline.
