Hi all, a month or so i asked for people to review my site, people said the content was very good but the look and feel was poor. Since then ive did a full rebuild and Im currently restoring my content.. here is the site.. your thoughts? http://www.techieshelp.com/ ps - i know there is no logo on the header, that is still being drawn up! thanks
It can look very nice once you get a logo, try a background which separates the bg and the website more, also take some of the content away from the homepage, have a more direct focus.
Is this a knowledge base or an Adsense farm? As a former "techie" of twenty years I have to be perfectly honest -I would spend about 5 minutes on this site and dismiss it as a joke. Here's why: Keep in mind your target audience are "techies" - these are guys/gals who ALREADY have a very good understanding of the basic fundamentals of the concepts on your site. You did mention that you're in the process of uploading your content again, so the following comment is based on the content that's on it as of today: As a techie, there is nothing your site offers me. A "knowledge base" should be exactly that - a site overflowing with content and knowledge for users on many levels - beginner, intermediate and advanced. Your site only offers some beginning knowledge that any techie would already know, or can find in three seconds by searching Google. Also, I tried searching your site for some very rudimentary info that ANY knowledge base should have and got no results. I Googled the same topics and got hundreds of hits. Here were three basic searches I did: Active Directory Integration in Exchange 2007 Creating a roaming profile How to export a .pst file Any REAL knowledge base would have returned tons of information and "how to" instructions. So to put it bluntly, your "knowledge base" has no value - it's simply a site with a bunch of Adsense links and no knowledge. Anytime a techie comes to a knowledge base they have an immediate problem that most likely is costing the company they work for or one of their clients money - no techie is remotely going to be interested in clicking on an Adsense ad. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you're not a techie yourself?
Your Blog is full of helpful IT knowledge. Which plugin you used for slide show of featured posts? It is looking very stylish.
