Well a simple task really, can you visit: http://www.gardenveg.co.uk and let me know what you think.

Be brutally honest and be kind if you feel it necessary :)

Have a browse around. Look at some of the articles etc.

It's not complete. Lots more content to go. But I just wanna know what you think.

    Thank you!

I think overall it looks ok

    It is very informative

I do not like the font

I think you should find a way of putting the strapline higher up and more clear rather than the way it is at the moment, it's lost with the body head text.

This is just my opinion but many people into gardening are older people.

You may want to make things simpler to read, remember most people are NOT like me, they will not spend time to find something out they just want Fast Quick Easy info Now. :)

    IMO

Sorry if I sound rude, hope this feedback helps

    Dave

P.S I do not know this niche but it may be a good idea to get some tips from prominent sites in this niche.

I appreciate the fact that you have been to the point. I do not feel that banner expert, nor ozill have helped at all. However, Daveman, great opinions and response. (I'll give you some rep in a second ;))

I have contacted a couple of Vegetable/Fruit seed websites and they all love the site, so I am going on their opinions.

I must say, that all your comments are useful but I disagree with one:

"many people into gardening are older people"

This is a fairly stereotypical view. I know many people, either from the age of 18-19 who are into GYO. I have set the website up to be UK based and I know that in the UK atm, there is a lot of push and campaigns to get more people growing their own.

I will take everything on board then!

C'mon, I need some more Daveman's to step forward :)

Pretty nice. I'd add a little more green since it's a gardening site and maybe some different kinds of articles instead of just sowing and farm style. Also a little variety in posts would be nice. Are there any plants that could be grown in a pot? Any recipes for people who just grew tomatoes? Etc.
Also for seem reason it seemed unnatural for sponsors to be on the left and Other Posts to be on the right on the blog post pages, maybe I'm just crazy though...

    Hi Crutchy

    Thanks for the feedback.

I think you are right, this niche is big in UK at the moment, I'm some one that likes to spend time in bookshops and I have noticed a growth in gardening related books over the past year or so. The same is true of TV, gardening has always been popular within a small niche but it seems to be growing and new segments are getting in on the act. There are now TV shows that expose the food industry's use of harmful additives, supermarket's wasteful attitude and promote grow your own as a healthy cheaper alternative to mass produced chemical laden GM veg.

Just a little tip for you, you may want to take a regular look at the bbc co.uk website, do a search for gardening and veg etc... this will give you a great idea of what uk people in your niche are watching, learning, asking and thinking. Remember the bbc are massive and they produce so much content, why not use them for research and ideas.

    I hope this helps

I don't like the lay out, On the footer better you arrange on Centre.
no need rewrite menu catergory on content, it make Content Field look not so good
