This is my first website and I need to know the COLD HARD truth about how it looks.

as you said its your first website, its really good job for the first time!
what you need to improve is:

dont use CityBeaverton.com text in blue bar on top.
change your site top logo to other design or change its colour.
try to use "VERDANA" font for whole website.

Decent for your first site, though it does come across as a bit cluttered to me. Make it clean and simple.

 

Its good website by a newbie web designer. you may make it more simple and clean.

 

Good first try. I would increase the size of the font used for the left hand navigation.

change the style of your links, blue underlined anchors look very dated. Also the color of your menu buttons would look better on a non-white background. Text size for your menu is an issue too. Otherwise, fairly good for your first site. Keep working and you'll get it right. See www.cssplay.co.uk for some good ideas.

At the time of posting this I am still waiting for it to load, it is really slow. Ah it's loaded. It is fine for your first site and over time you will get better, however for now make sure you change the font to vedenna, to do so add this to the header of your document:
