Firstly, thanks for your time if you care to leave some advice. I have tried MFA sites etc, but have advanced to a real content site now I understand the advantages! I launched this site in July 2007 and get about 2000 uniques a day (now Paul has appeared on Oprah!). This is my first attempt at a real website with original content. I have optimized it using all my current skill. So I am ready to be 'tested'. What do you think? http://www.paulpottsopera.org/ Please comment on whatever you like, but would be cool to hear what you think about: * If you search google for 'paul potts' where am I ranked (which country are you in?) * Off page optimization * Possible additional revenue streams Thanks for all advice and constructive criticism!! Dave
Looks good. A header/banner to tie into your theme would be beneficial. You ranked 2nd on google in a "paul potts" search. Good job with meta tags and content distro. I, personally would do a adsense footer along with an offsite navi text at the bottom for backlinking. What's your PR, btw?
Synaptic, What do you mean when you say 'offsite navi text'? I don't understand that feature. At the moment, it is PR3. Thanks all so far for your feedback.
Nice. Only thing i would add is that it would be helpful to make all links consistant.. ie, they are slightly different color and are all have or dont have the dotted underline you have. Personally I would get rid of the dotted underline and make all the links a brighter gold color than you have. For example, if that 'contact us' link was near other text you would not know if it was a link or not.
Down near the footer, where most people put their copyright info. I usually substitute copyright info with a 3 or 4 text link navigation block to other websites I run. Kind of like how people do their signatures here on DP " Website sponsored by :Link | Link | Link " Hope that clears it up for you. If you propagate your websites across your other websites pages, you create some free backlinking for yourself.
I think the design is quite good. Very basic but quite good. In terms of advertising I would suggest that you keep you amazon links on there, because people will be coming to this site, because it is you and they obviously like your music etc. With Google ads in the left hand column you might as well keep them there, but i dont think you will me much advertising rev. from them. You do need to promote your cds, dvd, etc , a lot more because that is what you will sell. Your site is not an advertising site. It is an affiliate and product sale site.
Good advice, thanks Chill! Yes you are right, Amazon is currently the main source of revenue which helps me support the development of the site. This is a hobby for me. How do you suggest I promote the products more? Sales copy? More prominent amazon ads?
You could try blogging about a purchase of the DVDs from Amazon - or posting a bit about how Amazon has reduced the price, with links to your resale DVDs.
I"m from Belgium and you rank 10th. Not bad since most above are high PR newssites and wikipedia. Other than that I can't say much wrong about your site. It's clean, clear, etc. Perhaps one small detail. When watching the youtube video's perhaps add a link to the next & previous video
Excellent site, nice and clean design. Try using a different font. I am from Pakistan, and its on 4th on first page.
Your page is ranked 4th in google, good work, I like it, it's easy on the eyes, good choice of colours, good layout! Good work! Mike2732
Can anyone please tell me where I am ranked in a Paul Potts google search in the US? My traffic has gone down a bit, so wondering if I have slipped. Thanks for the advice everyone! Dave
Hi Dave, Your site look very nice although I would consider to change a font to something more "readable" - like Verdana. You are ranking 6th for "Paul Potts" in Slovenija but I dont think that count much... I see that you still have many pages indexed from your ex-script. I think you should add more real content (more articles) when they gone from Google and get somehow indexed in MSN too. Take care, xino
