I'm developing content for my TowerEiffel.com site, but I'm not sure if I'm on the right way. TowerEiffel.com I've just copied and pasted the whole article from Wikipedia and added a link to Wikipedia at the bottom of the article. Is it OK this way? No any copywriting issues? And could I use the text even without the link back to Wikipedia?
Create unique content, you're not going to rank anywhere for this keywords if you just copy wikipedia content. Add some picture (unique one if you can) I guess lots of peoples searching for "Eiffel Tower" would come from image search
I'd like to put some unique pictures on the Gallery page. Or, shall I put one small on each page, too? I was thinking about this, but thought if I add a picture, it would attract more attention than the Google ads, what is not my aim of course. As for the content, I think I'm not able to make it unique. I'd like to use the one from Wikipedia and just wonder if I can remove the link back to Wikipedia. Would it be OK without the link? I'd like then insert my own unique keywords into the meta tags in html.
Original content is always best. Hire some affordable writers here at DP and you can see your way up in the search engine race. It would also be great to add some more pictures to your site.
I have no money to hire someone to write for me, so I'd like to use Wikipedia articles. At least at first and then, later if I earn some money with the site, maybe then I'll hire a writer. Just wonder if I can use Wikipedia articles even without mentioning it's an article from Wikipedia? I mean I'd like to remove the link to Wikipedia I've put at the bottom of my article. so can I remove it? TowerEiffel.com As for the pictures, I'd like to put some cool pictures on the Gallery page. However, do you think I shall add small ones within the articles, too? I think this pictures would attract more attention that the Google ads, what I don't want.
As per Wikipedia terms, you are allowed to display its content and pictures but you need to include a link back Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reusing_Wikipedia_content
Thank you Your Content for your reply. Is it OK with the way I included the link to Wikipedia on my site (at the bottom of the article)? And does it have to be a link to Wikipedia homepage or right to the Wikipedia article which content I've used?
DUDE... If you are copying and pasting an article that isn't yours, you AT LEAST have to include a link back to the original article. Alternatively, you can avoid that issue altogether and write the articles yourself.
First, the article is poorly written. It's boring. Second, did you bother to look at your Ad Sense ads? There's stuff for construction companies and other crap. How do you expect to monetize a visitor that comes looking for Eiffel Tower info? Third, you can't afford $8 for an original article? If not, get a job (or 2nd job) for a minute, get the $8 and get the article. You'll have more potential. I'm guessing 95% or more of the people who practice "I'll improve when I make money" fail. It's one thing to not go all out until some coin rolls in, but it's another to not even give yourself a shot at making some money. Honestly, you could write "Thiz iz myz Eiffel Tower site n' stuff. I luv teh Eiffel Tower dontz u? Mez luvz Z Eiffel Tower." and have a better shot at making money. Your ads would be more targeted, your content will be unique and it will at least be funny content--beats boring content.
Thank you guys for your critique. I have no much experience with creating content sites. This one is my first ever and I hope to make some money with it. OK, I will not remove the links back to Wikipedia. My AdSense ads don't show relevant ads at all yet. I think it's because I've not added keywords into the meta tags of my site yet. The keywords will all be about the Eiffel Tower and Paris, so the ads shall be OK then. I'll also try to add at least some personal funny content like you mentioned marketjunction. I'd like to make my site more popular adding some cool photos to the gallery page as well.
Wikipedia states that you put a link to the article you are using as reference and indeed you can copy and paste the whole article as per its GNU General Public License (GPL) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyrights There is no problem either adding Adsense and of course your own additions will enrich your site and give it a different touch to avoid being just a Wikipedia's clone as there are many others.
OK, link changed right to the Wikipedia's article I used as a refernce (actually copied and pasted the whole article).
Good luck with your project and bear in mind that being your first try it's okay, but you will see how you can improve it as your knowledge and web mastering grow up over time
The first thing that came to mind was, is that it? It started out good, then it came to an abrupt end. Not enough content.
My site is not finished yet. I'm still looking for a person to write me a kind of unique text at least for the Home page.
