I am in the brainwave entrainment niche (not brainwave "entertainment") which most people are unfamiliar with as of yet even though brainwave entrainment websites have been slowly but steadily on the rise for the past few years. For the most part most of the population doesn't understand or never even heard of brainwave entrainment, binaural beats, isochronic tones and the like. Anyway I need a review of my brainwave website which has been around since mid 2008, and is my primary source of income even though I have only been averaging about $600 a month from it when people find it in google search results. Clickbank affiliates are promoting it too but no super affiliates are promoting it so sales from Clickbank affiliates are rare and far between (unless they use their own affiliate link to buy my products). I seem to average about 100 unique hits a day, 3000 hits a month, and average about 15 sales a month (and my main products sell for $39.95 each). So the stats show that I get about 1 sale for every 200 visitors roughly. I am wondering if my sloppy amateur web design is too confusing for visitors, or if I wrote to much content? But I try to give a lot of info about my products, as well as in explaining what brainwave entrainment is, so they know what they are buying. There is even a 60 day refund policy (only 4 refunds in almost 10 months.) But maybe I have too many free mp3 samples which are ruining people’s appetite for wanting to actually buy my products? (That is, they keep returning to the free samples and listening to them instead of buying my products). Any feedback will be great. Thanks in advance. Here is the website http://www.musicmefree.com
The design looks cheap, not like a serious ecommerce site. The header graphic is not relevant to what you are selling, so it's confusing. What about an image of a woman listening to headphones in the lotus position? Right off the bat the domain tells me the stuff on the site is free, or at least that's the first meaning of 'free' I think of. Maybe you need a content section on the homepage with a heading "What is musicmefree.com" where you can explain the mission of the site, and what binaural beats are. Tell people you have free and premium content. Create calls to action (think of "Add to shopping cart" buttons on Amazon and how they are instantly recognizable). I have to scroll way too far down before finding a call to action on your product pages. There should be some above the page fold. I think you definitely have information architecture issues because there are so many links, two navigation bars (top, left side). Consider getting rid of the huge list of links on the left side on the homepage, widening your page width (1024x768 is the safe size now, no longer 800x600) and breaking up the text content with images and calls to action. You have to help the user find what they want, so the first step is making sure you know what they are looking for. Sorry, that was a rambling reply, not well edited, but I hope it helps.
Yes, this info help a lot. It will take awhile for me to redesign everything because I am a amature. For example I like your header idea but in my website sitebuilder tool there is n0t an available banner that matches that. But maybe there is a way to customize it using the sitebuilder. Also I only own a 800x600 laptop so the website looks wide enough to me but understand your point of a wider resolution. Unfortunately the sitebuilder I use makes the website automatically at the resolution it is at and can't be made larger. This site builder is built into my website contrl panel so it is easy to make updates over and over. But is there something else better I can use. I have never really looked into this. I will see what I can do with some of what you shared. Thanks for the info and honesty as I have been alone at this for 9 months with rarely any feedback.
I did a quick backlink research on your site. Here are some of your site stats: Google Pagerank: 2 Alexa Rank: 824187 Technorati Rank: 0 Listed in Digg: 0 DMOZ: Not Listed Link Popularity Google Backlinks: 43 Yahoo Inlinks: 1223 Altavista Links: 1040 AllTheWeb Links: 1030 .gov backlinks: 0 .edu backlinks: 0 Pages Indexed Google Indexed: 133 Yahoo Indexed: 107 MSN Indexed: 31
the stuff does sound interesting but you could do with letting the free mp3s stream instead of being downloadable.
Anyone landing on your site from a search engine link would have a pretty idea what your site is all about and, I think, find the header graphic entirely reasonable. Your soft-sell is probably close to ideal for your audience...remember, a considerable amount of well-intentioned advice to radically change your approach may not ever have passed a college-level course in marketing where everyone learns that there is no such thing as "one size fits all."
The site design is really bad, sorry but you need to get a new design in order to get more traffic and etc, also put more information at fron page.
Nice template and the background color looks pleasant. Great header image., everything in your site looks nice.
