It's basically a blog that will show banned ads, news, etc. I'm just wondering if you guys think my ad placement will work and maybe some more suggestions for perhaps menu items or links. I want to make sure you guys like it before I start trying to get traffic.

    Thanks much!

    • Fix your XHTML
    • Consider slimming your header image down just a tiny bit, the home page takes a dialup user more than 30 seconds to load.
    • Ad placement is good, I personally dislike the links at the top.
    • Page looks good in FF3, Opera but IE7 doesn't render it quite right, it shows left instead of centered. (Fixing the XHTML errors may help with this.)
    • I would add more content to the right column or eliminate it entirely.

Props on using gzip compression! Site looks great overall.

Thanks for the review null! I have no idea what all that meant in the link you gave me so I'm not sure if I'd be able to fix that. And thanks for informing me that it doesn't work in IE7; I just tried it out and will need to fix it.

    You're welcome!

If you're not sure you can hire someone to enable it for you ;) but if you have a good hosting provider its very likely they'll be happy to enable gzip compression for you.

Well... nullvariable has said it all. You don't even have /body nor /html close tags.
But (as nullvariable also said :) ) the site looks good.

Maybe the title has too bright colors?

ah ha! I missed that :D

I am personally not a big fan of black background sites, I find them harder to read.

Do these count as the beginning tags? Or do I need to add <html> before them?

    <head profile="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11"> were proper tags.

awesome! it looks great! I would try maybe popular posts in the extra space or something like that. There are a lot of cool plugins that give different options to draw readers in. Also I would bookmark the login link and hide that from users completely. Probably the register link too unless you are forcing registration to comment which is a bad idea ;). You could also place a different kind of ad in this area. For example Google offers a program within adsense that lets you promote Firefox with the google toolbar.

Do you think my ads should be in contrast with the page, or should i try to blend it in? For example on this page:
    http://tinyurl.com/5hfbms
see the ads on top? Do you think they look best blended in or should I make it contrast by making it say blue like the choices above it?
