I started http://routineorder.com a few months ago as a new start - a new blog which is personal. Could you please review it, and let me know if it is simple and usable, readable, interesting? I purposely decided to make this a general blog not really finely focussed on one subject. I write about popular science/tech, economics, stuff that seems to be interesting, strange or just worth knowing. The question I ask myself before writing a blog post is whether I would have liked to read it on a blog. So there! Reps for the most creative and productive suggestions to improve the blog Also, is there a definitive guide on how to monetize a blog (mine has PR4) when the number of visitors is low initially? Thanks a million, folks!
My biggest worry was that the theme looked too drab - thanks for the votes of confidence. 8everything : the header image changes everytime you refresh the page - hence the green -maybe I should change it to blue though - since all other links are blue too. I already ping Technorati for the "Tags". I hope the "ROUTINE ORDER" (white on black) does not jar - or does it?
I like the look and feel of your blog a lot. I think your ROUTINE ORDER header works quite well and fits in with the random images displayed underneath. Even though your visitor numbers maybe "low" have you thought about selling links? With a PR of 4 you should have some takers wanting to buy links on your homepage. Have a look in the Link Sales forum: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=58
mainpage is better then front page i think.you can use different a background color, not white about the right menu.very nice blog. i can say that, blog means this site.
How much do you think I should start selling 10 sitewide links for? How much can I expect to get? I don't want to be the fool that lists 1 link for $50 or something and get no one to buy the link Thank you for your advice.
Thank you! I did try another color briefly, but I am color-blind when I come to design - couldn't find one I like much
I honestly don't know the going rate. But I would do some serious browsing in the Link Sales forum, do some reasearch on what PR4 links are going for and then place an offer. Sell a few first and if they are snapped up, offer some more at a later date for a higher price.
I would change the post title color. Doesn't really fit. Might be a good idea to add social networking icons/links to the bottom of the posts. Also, this theme is strikingly similar to that of Khoi Vinh's subtraction.com Nonetheless, it is a clean design.
Does it really look like subtraction.com? It is the default cutline modified by me. I really dislike the clutter caused by the social networking icons - besides no one seems to use them anyways. I will look into the link-ad prices... thanks for the heads up.
