Hey guys, I have recently re-done my site and would now love your opinions, good or bad! I made my site on a widescreen at 1280x970 or something like that, I can't remember the resolution, and I saw my site on a 1024x768 the other day and was horrified by how crap it looks! I completely forgot about how others would be viewing it, is there some code I could insert to make it look the same as how i view it? Anyway, that aside please voice your opinions! http://www.only-honest-reviews.com/ Thanks in advance! James
Hi James, I like the clean layout and the colors, look very professional. I did also check it out on my laptop and seemed fine to me. Good luck.
Sharp looking site, you kept it nice and clean. If you want your site to automatically adjust to your viewers screen size you need a template with fluid width. Check your template if it has that option. Nice site, well done!
Looks great, only one recommendataion: you have no need to open a new window, when click the menu since your content are actually in the same site. This is not a good practice.
Yes, that is just some coding error i will have to fix seanray - thanks for pointing that out. I will look into this fluid width thing and see wot can be done, my bro is the one who did most of the coding - i'll haver to ask him! I plan to get rid of the 'other recommendations' tab and insert something to make the readers want to sign up for my newwsletter as well. Well so far im glad the overall response has been a positive one, cheers guys!
Very logically laid out. Design seem like it's trying to mix web1.0 and 2.0. Not too wild about it but it's definatly not bad. And, I don't see a favicon.
Since the title is "Very honest reviews" I'll try and be just that. From a design standpoint it's very inconsistent. The header is great and I had hoped the rest of the site would follow suit. It doesn't. Here we go with the usual long text-blurbs with some centered text "headers" here and there. And the standard Photoshop "box of product". The left-hand menu also managed to feel tacked on in that the font choices and sizes are not consisted with the header. IMHO, if you removed the header the site would look like your average "buy my book on how to make money"-page. But on the other hand, if you went in and let the choices made in said header dictate how the rest of the content is presented, you'd end up with a very professional looking site. Although I have to say I've seen a lot of these types of pages around these forums (I wonder why) and yours is one of the better. Another thing, never use "Coming soon" on a website. It gives the site as a whole an unfinished impression. Instead write nothing and add content when it's available.
Hi asto, thanks for the comments. When you say 'The left-hand menu also managed to feel tacked on in that the font choices and sizes are not consisted with the header.' What font do you recommend then, the same one that says 'giving you peace of mind' in the header for example?
Overall, I like the design. Simple and clean. What I dislike are: - The coming soon and "..." on left sidebar. - The sidebar seems not in the same vertical size as the main box. Look kinda weird. One thing to ask, what plugin/script did you use for displaying sponsored link on your left sidebar?
I would make the orange headers more akin to the blue buttons while keeping the orange background to distinguish them.
