Hi, I'm new to using adsense and blogging, these are the 3 blogs (sports related) I'm currently running: http://www.afldraftinfo.com Blog about AFL draft prospects (for those not aware, like NFL in America, AFL is the leading football league in Australia - Australian rules football, however unlike in America the draft is very poorly covered here). Traffic is very low at the moment - general interest level in the draft prospects is low (AFL season has just started, the draft is far from most fans minds) and I have only just started advertising it on AFL forums. This blog will be much more content rich than the 2 below and I expect the blog to get a plenty of views towards the end of the season and the beginning of the off-season (draft occurs late November and September-December is when the interest peaks). http://wcewafl.blogspot.com http://frewafl.blogspot.com These two blogs show weekly footage of reserves/fringe players from 2 different AFL teams. Only started advertising it yesterday on AFL forums. I think these 2 blogs will get more views through the regular season (April-August) but with a lower peak (2 fans of clubs) My CTR rate (<0.4%) and eCPM (<$0.35) are both very low. If you could review my adsense ad placement and overall layout on these blogs and how I could optimise it, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
How old are your blogs, especially about AFL? It seems that it has no inbound links yet. Anyway, just remind you that visitors only click ads because they need them. And the ones who needs them are people who search at search engines. Therefore, you must focus on getting search engine traffic. This is before you review your ad placement, layout, etc. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the reply. The first one (afldraftinfo.com) I started late December and the last 2 I started last Saturday.
Bump - would appreciate some further advice... I've sent emails off to many big football blogs/sites requesting link exchanges and publicised the blogs more on some big football forums - as a result had a lot more traffic in the previous 7 days (1048 impressions) and particularly yesterday and today (1076 impressions) - however no clicks
Thanks for the advice wiresaw. Any idea what's a realistic CTR and eCPM to aim for/expect for my sites (niche sports blogs)?
