It's great that you added the button to your site but yes you definitely have it in the wrong spot. You want the button to blend in with your content not necessarily the page itself. Set it to where the button comes before every post or even after every post. The content is what's more important so as your audience is reading a blog post, they'll also have the option of voting for the page. The key is to let it blend in with your posts.
