Please Review Fansite Blog

Greetings,

I have a few fan sites for different cartoon series, and I am getting an extremely low CTR, no higher than 0.2% and that translates into me not having enough to pay for the server, I rely entirely on Adsense, so I need to get those numbers up.

Basically, I am doing a basic template that works, and using it for all my blogs, with different colors. But first, it has to work

Please give me some tips or pointers to try, I have 2 sidebar ads, but only 1 shows in the homepage, as to reduce the ads for new users.
I am open to suggestions on ad placement and other tips.

Looks Good:

1. First of all I really like the colour scheme. It is easy on the eye.
2. I also like the header. Very neat design

Needs improvement:

1. I wonder how much affective will be the Google adsense on the right hand side
2. I don't feel that the pages on the right hand side of the page are important

 

well, the block on the right side bar has a ctr of 0.08% .... I guess I could take it off. The pages on the right are the main navigation links, without those, it would be very tedious to browse the content

 

I like you header..Suggest remove adsense boarder..make it same color with your background..Btw how you make the drop effect..??

 

maybe, you can place the google search box, at side bar or the bottom of the page.

 

the snowfall comes from a wordpress plugin, this one

Ill remove the border, se how that goes, because the CTR is just under 0.3% for the 468x60

 

why snowfall, it distracts the attention of readers.. just my opinion

 

Without the snow it'll look pretty good.

 

the snow is just a Christmas thing, will only last until today 25th, I must say, I am getting a 0.2% ctr from the 468x60 and a 0.1% ctr from the 120x240 on the left, however, on my other site, just the same, similar results on 468x60, but I have a right sidebar 200x200 and that got a 0.3% CTR, Ill try changing them again, see what happens.

yesterday I had a small server downtime, maintenance, thats probably what was giving you trouble.

 

I like the look of it, but don't understand the content so cannot comment on that

 

I'm not much into yellow & orange mix... the top banner is nice, maybe a graphic design for the tiltle of the blog instead of a normal web font... maybe : )

 

I think the colors are fine, but the ad placement should be improved and increased. I know you said you wanted to keep it low for new visitors, but IMO your are missing out on important potential revenue with that view point. Try adding more ads and mixing it up a bit to find the right layout. Test a different layout every week until you find the right one.

BTW nice site, I think your going in the right direction just keep at it.

 

Mikeboy, you are not allow to ask you visitors to click on the adsense ads.... you will get banned
