Hello, I'm owner of such web domains: - AtOrb.com - SoftTuna.com I'd like to create software portal where people can review and purchase software. What domain name from the list above if fine for this? What name sounds better? Thanks.
Two schools of thought out there. The first is that your domain name should match whatever it is you're trying to do. In your case, softwarereview.com would be better...IF you could get it or something similar. SoftTuna is cute and all, but has zilch to do with software. More to do with squishy tuna. (You could make a heck of a site about squishy tuna that would rank well.) Personally, I'd rather have a domain name that matches the subject of my site....BUT I'm in the way of knowing that it is not a tragedy if you don't....PARTICULARLY if you plan on making an authority site with many topics and pages. All things being equal, if you SEO optimize EACH page to the fullest, then the domain name isn't nearly as important. Finally, the domain name isn't the main thing the search engines are looking at for your index page. It's the page description and contents. So, have your tuna sounding domain, make sure your references to tuna are mostly of a graphic nature and not text, but make the site description about software reviews. The description that agrees with the text of the page trumps the domain name every time. Norm
Thank you for your information. As you may know, it's really hard to get good .COM name for free. And I have no investments to buy names on auctions. These names were free. AtOrb is short, but nobody likes it. SoftTuna is nice and sounds good. So 99% I will use it. Regarding SEO, you are right. I will try to not use Tuna word in any articles, etc. I have some small experience in SEO, and I may confirm that domain name isn't always that important. It's possible to promote site when name contains NO keywords. Thanks.
Hello, There is first release of SoftTuna.com Not yet completed, but working. Can you please tell me what you think? Thanks.
