You need to change the logo, make it alittle professional and also take off the code box from the top and you might put it at the bottom of the page
I wold make the header go all the way across the top of the site. The "Link To Us" code could go between the menu bar and the forums.
I really like the idea you have down for your site. However, as the person above said, your banner just doesn't look professional enough. In addition to that, if you don't want to alter it a ton, why not just focus on creating a banner with primarily writing, and not so much a picture ?
The Link To Us code does not look good in the header, you should put it below the Welcome Guest navigation bar.

yeah the Logo is much like a picture of a wallpaper or something and not at all related to your website. Otherwise the concept is good
