You have to add strong calls to action. Your site does not instruct the user in what to do, and unfortunately most people online need to be told what to do.....they need clear instructions that stand out..... otherwise they are clueless....
Yes, well-spotted - I don't think the importance of this can be overstated: the "BUY NOW" button! There was a good post about this here which you might want to check out, says it all I think.
I got your point and applied a fix on that - could you please check it out now - whether it seems sufficient and clear or not? (I mean whether now it's only left to either buy or not ) Please check out this page, for example: silverlightbooks.net/book/csharp3-design-patterns/ (btw - there's a "Google Preview" button added too).
Hey, that looks a lot clearer now! Also, I didn't know about Google Book Preview! However, it didn't load in my browser (FF3) - the blue box opened but the message "Loading book contents." was all I got. Tried refreshing a few times. I think the action buttons would be good to have on the front page too - the featured book doesn't have one, nor those in the grid below. I figured out you are supposed to click on the book image, but it's not that intuitive, again, needs a call to action.
Thank you! Firefox will get fixed and action buttons on the home page too Here's an update for the second week (since launching) - Got 2 sales by now (confirmed).. Google is still indexing the site and estimating the value, so search engine traffic is on it's way.. the goal is to be on the first page for "silverlight books" - stable. almost there. So will see how it works out, I hope it does
After 2.5 months it starts receiving generic traffic from the search engines, some real good keywords and it's #1 on G for "silverlight books" (the main search term, basically), although no PR yet
Nice work! Who cares about PR - as long as you are getting traffic Preferably in the 100s per day to start seeing some decent earnings!
