A new Amazon associate web site is up this morning after a month of development Still a few touches are left here and there but the main idea is clear. Please review the site and leave any any positive feedback or critics. Thanks in advance! http://www.silverlightbooks.net
I'd love to have an amazon site like yours What did you use to build a site like that? or did you develop it by yourself?
This is my site Just begin phase, 1-2 weeks done only. I will add more content and Amazon product in future
Looks very nice and professional. After a long time a site came here in the review that looks really nice.
Nice - simple effective niche site. I think you have good chances of making sales. Only thing is, books are not THAT profitable, so I hope you sell lots of other stuff "by accident" along the way!
Thank you guys for the positive feedback! So, there's still a long way to go with SEO and promotion, etc.. and editing the content so that book descriptions, for example, will be unique - not the ones that came from Amazon. I'm not sure yet, but seems like I've got my first sale today One book with a commission of $2.2043 ..
Hey, if you already got a sale (probably showing as an order but no commission charged yet) then you're doing great for a new site! Could be that you snared a customer through DP of course Unique descriptions sound good - those Amazon editorial reviews are just way too common around the net. Now if you could extend the script to let users add their own comments... That would be something.
yes, re: first sale it would have been great to have one on the first day, but I guess it could be someone from DP trying out the shopping cart. we'll see once the report is updated on associate central. having people to comment on books is a good idea, I thought about it too, but there are comments coming from Amazon.com - how would I mix the two types together? Amazon's and my custom ones.. will see too.. thanks for the idea though!
just to follow up on the sales -that's how I get an email once a shopping cart is sent to checkout on amazon: Amazon Checkout Order: Monday, September 22, 2008 IP address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 1. C# 3.0 Unleashed: With the .NET Framework 3.5 Quantity: 1 Item Price: $31.49 Subtotal: $31.49 Estimated commission: $2.2043
I guess it would be pretty easy. Just store your customer's comments in the database and then display them, followed by customer reviews grabbed from Amazon. You would maybe just style them differently - like "User reviews" and then "More reviews", or something. Anyway, user-created content is king
well, re: commission - seems like I still have to get there - it was calculated with 7% (or 6.5%).. now I'm still at 4% .. so it's a custom-made site built with ASP.NET, C# and amazon web services. took about a month to give it a shape.
Great site. You'll start at 4% commission but your percent increases with the more sales you make. It has for me.
Ok so we're 7 days after the site has been launched and here's an update: Traffic for the last 7 days: 333 visitors / 224 unique from 45 countries with 3195 page views. USA, India and UK are the leading visiting countries. Not a single sale. Just people playing with the shopping cart to see how it works - it never reached an actual checkout/payment. New features added - Google book preview, embedded on site. (not for all books though, just those that are found in google books index) The site is starting to get indexed by google - 2 pages indexed, more to come. (there are overall 600 pages for google to index) What do you think? Could anyone have another look at it and see what may be missing or why there was not a single sale? (I guess that's what everyone is asking, but an outsider's view is very important) Will be grateful for your comments!
