OK - on the phpLD, you need to do something about the header. The picture is find but the name gets lost (it's really small). Also, there is no "flow" between the dark top of the page and the stark white of the bottom. Maybe change the bottom to a lighter version of one of the header colors. Add more categories - the ones you have now are so specific that you are leaving out a large segment of potential submitters. You also need to explain the submission process - are reciprocal links required or optional? I agree with you that the eSyndicat has a much better look. Same suggestion as above, though. You need to explain the submission process. Otherwise really nice.
