Please Recommend Residential Phone & Broadband in NY

I'm moving to Brooklyn Heights, NY this weekend. I need recommendations for local phone, cellphone, and broadband internet companies.

Apartment manager told me that they won't let cable, so I think my only chance is DSL for broadband.

    Any recommendation is greatly appreciated.

What kind of a rule is "no cable"? Weird...

Best advice is to buy your service from the provider that manages the copper.

And by "copper" I assume you mean "police officer, sir"?

Up here, there's a radio ad for help with traffic tickets... they have a little jingle that kinda reminds me of Ghostbusters:

    "Who you gonna
when your back's against the wall?
    1-triple 8-excopper"

There's an after midnight version too:

    "Who you gonna
when your back's against the wall?
    1-triple 8-exhooker"

My folks live in the city and have Verizon DSL, works great when I use it and I have only received one "tech support" phone call in the 3+ years they have had it. :)

But, if you want serious bandwidth. Check out Speakeasy. They are the self proclaimed ISP for geeks. If you want to sign up with them, let me know, I can refer you from my account. :)

I agree with noppid, see what the local phone company has to offer.
