I'm a professional webdesigner and I use Dreamweaver... But if you can wait a bit, you can wait for Dreamweaver CS3, it's really great but you should wait to get it

Dreamweaver is great but has a lot of extraneous stuff that the beginner could get bamboozled by.

You can always start with Microsoft Frontpage or Macromedia Dreamweaver. If you don't know any HTML it is not a problem because both programs have easy to access panels where you can add images, tables etc. in seconds. And also as mentioned before you can learn HTML that way too. I know this is a bit off topic but if you are a beginner and you would like to learn I would suggest learning HTML basics first. HTMLKit is a good program that will help you start. If you just need to build something quick then surely use one of the programs mentioned before.

    Hi Debs,
Thanks for your recommendation. I bought xsitepro and am using it now. I am very happy with it because it's very easy to use. It even has a webpage optimisation analyzer. I will not hesitate to recommend it to anyone new wanting to learn how to build website.

    Hi Olang,

Glad to see you decided on one and it's working well for you! xSitepro is quite popular for a lot of people. I design websites for others so I use both Dreamweaver and xSitepro depending on the needs of my customers. Even though I know html, xSitepro can still be a big time saver in many ways.

    Cheers,

    Debs

Are you using a CMS? If so there are some great Joomla extensions out there.
