Hello, I need some advice on my header image for my new website: http://www.loseweightdiets.(net) I feel its lacking something. Can I have your opinions please...
I put () around the extension so google doesn't index the links of me asking advice for my "professional" website. Just take them out.
It is, it is lacking individuality. If you look at 10 sites on that same subject you will see 10 similar banners. Therefore, yours is a deja vue and may well cost you visitors who will associate similar look to similar content and move on.
First thing that I noticed was the "spotty" (lack of better word) background! personally I would change it to a solid background! And maybe swap the images..put the apple where the couple is and vice versa! Other than that....nice looking site!
I changed it to "spotty" because I thought it needed a texture. I have done 2 samples from what you said: http://www.loseweightdiets.net/headersample.jpg http://www.loseweightdiets.net/headersample2.jpg
Its ok but its not very individual. Just looks like you took it off a TM site. I would first try a different text
I spent a while researching what should be included on a diet header and I came up with the results of: 1) Not using a hot woman with not many clothes on, but a woman in a sociable situation looking happy. 2) An element of healthy food. Thats why it has those 2 things on it. Can anyone suggest anything else if it doesn't look good. Also what do you not like about the text?
I agree, the pictures I think are the main problem, looks like something that would be in a commercial( just came to mind) try making it a little smoother looking to go with the rest of the layout.
I think briguy's advice is right on, your cleaner version works better. After all, you are talking about your logo area, so you want it to be clean and easiest to read and remember for your readers. I would also make the URL more prominent than the Tagline. Since it's your URL that's unique and not your tagline. And while you're at it, why not write a new tagline that stands out more and is much more unique? When you're writing a tagline, you should ask yourself if it sounds just like a million other taglines out there. How are the potential readers going to spot the difference between you and all the other sites? Now this isn't talking about the header image, but one of your first line says: "Why stay fat when you can be slim in a matter of weeks?" The word "Fat" might turn some people off, and it sounds like an Ad. Maybe try a more positive line like "Want to slim down a little and feel more energetic too?" hope it helps!
Hello, thanks for the review. I will reverse the image positions like was mentioned, but I don't want to get rid of the background. When on the site, the plain background didn't work at all. I may reduce the opacity or try a different one if people don't like it. I did have a slogan where the url is, but I didn't know where to put the url when it was there, so I replaced it. Can you suggest anywhere? The other content is work in progress, but thanks for the critique.
I have made some changed on the advice: http://www.loseweightdiets.(net) what do you think? or http://www.loseweightdiets.(net/images/headertest.jpg) is this better?
