I'm hoping to eventually drive serious traffic to this site - not for click ad revenue, but for front-end awareness. Blog: http://lifewithdogs.blogspot.com Yes, it's a standard template. But I've been content-focused.... TIA Neil
I agree with hcn that it is a bit dark, and the top toolbar containing the search looks disconnected from the site!
Thanks all. I have simply chosen the Blogger template that offers the best layout for my content. I am also concerned that changing the template will jumble and screw up the current content. If I am wrong someone please tell me. I can try a different look/feel. Thanks! Neil
That's one excellent blog you have there! Contentwise, it's fantastic! ...as for the colours. At least you've concentrated on the actually website itself first. (p.s. you can play with the colours in the stylesheet at the top of you template without fear of sending your sidepanel to the bottom and you header to Peru).
I agree with everyone else, the content is great but the colors are not. I've heard go with a light background, black text and blue for your links. Seems boring, but if people have trouble reading your text, why would they come back. If I come across a site thit is hard to navigate or read, has popups, looks deceiving, etc. I bail out. I don't have time for trickery.
When you do it, just make sure that you have a backup copy of the original. Although personally, I don't think it's too dark. Too much vertical scrolling though- IMO.
tip: I'm not sure if it's in your routine yet but ping after every post so SE's are aware of your update). I like your amount of content, I agree with everyone else though that the layout is to dark.
perhaps the color should be something like the default blogger interface - browns and white like your profile page (http://www.blogger.com/profile/3391801) Re content: really entertaining... enjoyable read.
I prefer reading light-coloured text on a black background than black text on a white background. Maybe if you changed your white text to a light grey, it would hurt some people's eyes less.
