    To put out a press release, is it necessary to hit up all ten sources? Or selecting one or two will do?

    No, you definitely don't need all 10 sources. If you hit one or two big ones, other smaller ones (especially with free distribution) won't have any kind of majorly significant impact.

    I'd suggestion emailing it to your regional AP office, using www.PR.com is you go the free route, and using www.prnewswire or upgraded www.prweb.com if you use a paid option. Sending it elsewhere isn't going to "hurt", but it won't often give enough of an extra boost to the news to make it a decent return on your time.
