Hey guys I created a fan site. I intend it to become a mega content site for my favourite shows. I know fan sites don’t make huge money but I haven’t even got a single click in a month. I want to know what I am doing wrong. I would be grateful if you guys could tell me if it had potential or if I am just wasting my time with the site and should just scrap it. Please advice on design, ad placement and anything else you can think of. Don’t hesitate to tell me if it bad all information is useful. i really liked how the text ads are merged with the content and colors & font matching the only drawback I see is that the first ad is rather low on the page (not to mention the 2nd one) while people mostly scanning/click on the top of the page where content menus are located
I could remove the bottom ad and place a new add at the top. What type of Ad do you believe I should use? Do you guys have any other idea about improving the site? I programmed the website to be interactive. User could add comments, review even change article (article will be needed to be checked by me before it will updated). I also created my own forum but I don’t appear to be building up a fan community.
Okay took your advice. I made improvement to one of my pages. I plan to change the rest of my site but I want to known your opinions are on Banner size first. This page I am using Leader 728 X 90 Leader board. http://www.favouriteshow.com/Movie/Film/Batman-Begins.html This page I am using Banner 468 X 60 http://www.favouriteshow.com/Archive/John-Schneider-Returns-to-Smallville.html I am not 100% sure which ads to use. On the Batman page I am using two Leader board but I concern the ad is to too noticeable as an ad. I would like to use Banner on top followed by Leader between the title and content. I could keep my page as it is or I could use smaller banner for both my ads. Those are also my option but I think the above would be better for my page. I do plan on testing different sizes once I start getting clicks. I just need a few pointers for now. What do you guys think? Thank you for those who have posted I really appreciate your advice.
How many visitors a day are you getting? Because it looks like your top 5 keywords are way too hard to hit #1 on.
Not many. Most of my users are coming from Forum where I have posted Links to my website for example episode recap or news article. The idea is once they are on my website they would explore the website. I do get occasional visitors from Google but only when they are searching for something very specific. The website is still a work in progress most of my pages haven’t been index by Google yet. I had visit from google bot but they havent added the pages I think it takes a while before the pages are added to google database. I also have to add Google ads to most of my pages. I would appreciate any tips on how to increase my Google traffic you could recommend. As well as which banner size to use on my website.
I am news to Adsense and SEO but got a related question. How important is keywords from Google perspective. I heard they focus on Meta description but only to display information after the search. Meaning the Meta has no bearing on Google search result? Can anyone confirm.
