    Hi,

I'm new at making websites and would really appreciate some advice on how best to optimise my site for SEO.

    The site is:-

    Mixed Martial Arts site

I know the design isn't all that, but I'm interested in SEO advice right now and how best to change/add/drop things for the better.

There is a link to a vBulletin forum (on a .net domain), but I want to concentrate on the .com pages ( 8 of ) with this.

Many thanks to anyone for any help.

My keywords are 'mixed martial arts', 'ufc' and 'kickboxing'.

    :)

I would break that first page into several pages. One for each sub topic.
And a short titel would be good.

Really? I put so much in as I figured more was better ( to a degree ).

What do you mean by a short title? The Meta title? Should I shorten that to the minimum?

Many thanks for your advice :)

More can be better. but by moving the boxing content to a special page about boxing with the site titel boxing, MMA Boxing or something like that you have higher chance of ranking for the boxing content.

You have very much content so you can break it up and still have long pages.

The longer the page titel the less weigth each word get. Hence a to long title make it hard to rank for anything. You should also try to avoid repeating words (MMA) in the titel.

    Thanks William,

I know the Google Page Ranking is happening soon so want to do as much as possible before (this will be the first time I'm eligible).

    Again, many thanks.

I agree with the above post, the page is far to long to be omptimised. Make several pages and optimise each page according to the title. Also, get your styling into CSS which is relatively easy. Then get your page construction into CSS using DIVS, this can be a real pain, especially trying to centre a page without using layers but it is possible! Table create more non readable code so you should avoid them.

First things first though mate, split your home page into several parts and optimise each page uniquely and definitely get your styling into CSS, it is quite easy and imperative if you want to move forward!

    Best for SEO
    1. Domain
    2. Title
    3. H1, H2
    4. Text Link

You can customize your page base on these.

Remove words like The MMA Forums. from your title. Only focus on the most important keywords and add them to the title. Factors like these are very important for on-page optimization.

    Make the page shorter

Format (bold, italic etc.) your main keywords on your page content
