We're building a football portal which features a quiz. The page is now thoroughly keyworded and generally speaking i don't think we have a landing page problem as such. What I've noticed about the adwords algorithm of late is that it won't give general keywords, such as football, even an 'OK' quality score. Please look at this page... http://www.soyouthinkyouknowfootball.com/#null I don't want to pay 25pence (cents) for this keyword and most of the traffic we want will come from the short tail words. Football is mentioned many times on this page in a number of contexts. If this page doesn't justify the use of this keyword, why not and what can we do to change it? Many thanks Joe
Hi, Joebloggs, First of all, note that very general keywords which get many searches, such as football, often cost more than usual, especially in broad match. Google isn't going to give you cheap clicks for such a popular term. Secondly, I think you have too many occurrences of the word football, so much so that it's bordering on keyword spamming. However, as I haven't calculated its occurrence relative to the rest of the content, I can't be sure. Lastly, and most importantly, you do not have nearly enough content on your landing page. Simply including the word football many times is not what you should be doing. Rather, you should be trying to provide loads of quality content, relevant to your keywords. Make sure that there is at least twice to three times as much content as there is markup.
definitly way to often mentioniong of "football", and you have way too manmy outbound-links to other sites but none (hardly) any own content. G sees your site like a typical MFA spammer site and therefore you get this low qs and high CPC.
