Somebody gave me a wordpress database with posts. I installed it on my server. Posts do apear on this new blog now but problem is that I have created a user by the name admin but this user does not have sufficient privileges. Can anybody tell me how to assign full rights to this user called admin?? I want to change themes add plugins and more posts but can not do it unless i have sufficient privileges. Can anybody help me??
The default account created when you install wordpress has administrator priviledges, if you have created your 'admin' account after that do the following. Log into the first account(administrator) : On the left pane, select 'Users/Authors and Users' Now click on 'edit' below the name 'admin' and change 'role' to 'administrator'.
Didi you have this problem before? Who installed wp on your server? When did you create the account named 'admin' and how?
Hi! Did you copy the entire site as it is with wordpress files including database which someone has given you and put on your server ? If yes, then ask him for the administrator login id / password which he was using on the blog and you try the same. I had faced the same problem sometime back also and it worked. All the best!
