Please help with some web2.0 beginner questions.

I would like to design a website with a web 2.0 look and feel, complete with user input functionality. I've been designing "classic" websites for years, so I know what I'm doing, but this new style has me confused.
So, I'm wondering, where do I start?
All of the free templates available online don't offer these functions.
I've heard words like "wordpress" etc bandied about.... but I'd rather use a template and my own customizations and programming.
This will be on a purchased domain name, so no blogger blogs or anything.

    Other questions:
How do you create a comment box after an article, with all the comments below?
How do you add an array of "digg this" etc buttons to the end of an article?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks guys.

These interactive features you'd like to add are scripts/full programs. There are a bunch of resources for learning about these on the web. I'd first, however, learn how to integrate a script into your code. Go visit www.w3schools.com and take some of the tutorials for languages with which you are not familiar.

From there, you can go visit Wordpress and Movable Type to learn how to properly integrate them into your design.

You can pick up things like the Digg button from Digg.com.

    1. Use big fonts.
    2. Crayon colors
    3. Integrate any good blogging CMS to get the functionality of comments, posts in chronological order.

try joomla, mambo, dupral . If you could learn yourself a PHP, that would be helpful a lot too. And believe me, it is easier than you may have thought. So go and learn PHP.
