I have some mini sites built with Homestead's Sitebuilder that aren't ranking well and I was thinking about moving the review from one more more of the sites over to a Wordpress Blog and see what I could do with it.

The Homestead sites are indexed. If I shut down the Homestead site, how long would I need to wait to move the content over to the Wordpress blog in order to avoid any kind of duplicate content problem?

you can use google webmaster tools to remove the old index. enter https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/,

    - verify your site,
    - go to Site configuration/Crawler Access/Remove URL
    - set New Removal Requests for your old pages.

Also you need to block them by robots.txt.

In a day, all the index will be deleted. Then you can create your blog and move the content over the blog.

Or wait for 1-2 weeks. search "site:yourdomain.com" on google. if you see that all index deleted, create your blog.
