Hello, I just found this forum and find it helpful with some great ideas. I have a website for our business artisticstone.net.au. I have tried to add the code so that I can see data in Google Analytics about 5 days ago but still on the GA page it is saying that tracking is unknown so there must be a problem with the way I have put the code in. Please can someone take a look at the source and see what I have done wrong? Many thanks and if you can see how I can improve my page I would love some advice or constructive criticism. Thanks a lot
It looks like you did it correctly, neogeo24. So, you're not getting any data? If you are, then it's probably not really a problem. Nice product by the way, makes for nice landscapes and interesting focal points. Now for constructive criticism - Instead of "About Us..." use something that gives your store credibility, for instance "Perth's leading source for Artistic Stone" The main thing here is to put this into an H1 tag so that the search engines see it and to use a keyword you want to get picked up on by the search engines. You might consider adding a call to action in the upper right hand corner, like a callout box saying something like, "Visit Our Showroom" and linking it to your location page. I would also link the "Open 7 days" graphic to a page with your store hours. Make sure you do some backlink building. You came up in Google's 1st position for "Artistic Stone Perth" but if someone else wanted your spot, they could easily claim it because I don't see any backlinks to your site. For the term, "Artistic Stone" the website in the 1st position is artisticstone.com and they only have 175 backlinks. Build a layer of backlinks and then another layer to those backlinks and you should protect your position and maybe even rank for other terms better. Best of luck!
Thanks for your ideas. I find this very helpful as this is the first website I have ever knocked up for a business that my wife and I have just started. I am planning to change the images on the home page to images that more accurately reflect what we are selling. These images will then be links to our relevant products page. Also I like your idea of a call to action button, I had no idea what this was but did a google search and saw some good examples of what other websites have as their call to action. Regarding backlinks, I have submitted our business and website to almost a dozen online business directories and most of these have the option of providing a link to our webpage, does this mean it is a backlink, how can I leverage this to get a better result in Google searches? Thanks very much for your help.
