All - I've encountered a couple of bad experience with my current web hosting company:mad:. My current web site is hosted with a very high ranking host company. It's in a shared web server. So, the price is very low ($5.95 per month). However, my site had a couple of down times during the Thanksgiving week. It may due to heavy traffic during the shopping season. One on Thanksgiving even which was down the whole night and one after Thanksgiving and it was down about 2 hours even they stated its 99% uptime when I ordered an one year service. I know something like that would be expected in a shared server. However, if that's the case, they should not advertised it as 99% uptime. They failed to keep their promise. After the 2 bad instances, I'm thinking about switching to a different company. Any recommendation or any thoughts?

Heh...you seem to have fallen in the trap of midphase/ANhosting.

I'd suggest hostgator. Check out my sig for more info.

99% uptime is not great that's about 7 hours of down time a month. I think your most likely guaranteed 99.9% uptime which is 45 minutes of down time a month in total.

So in this case what are your requirements in terms of space and bandwidth. Along with that what sort of price are you looking to pay?

I'm sure you're going to get lots of suggestions from "hosts" on here. So my word of advice make sure to look for reviews on http://www.webhostingtalk.com maybe even make a topic there asking for reviews on whichever host you're looking into. Digital point is not the greatest place for web hosting due to the fact I think expectations of hosts are very low due to the fact most of the hosts people buy from here offer nothing but unreliable hosting after a few months.

    Hi

Look at it from your web hosting provider also.

Investigate why there systems went down! ( Ask them via your support center ) You have a moral right to know why your site went down, if its a plain " act of god " event then give them a break. However if the outage was preventable..... Get a refund or sue the bastards! No really, tell them what you think and move on if you wish.

Imo, there are some hosts who just don't put enough funds into there systems.... Leads to failure and loss of profit.
